Roll a die to decide which column to read. It can be fun to race or set a timer to see how fast they can read a column.
The word lists are sorted by spelling pattern. Your child should have a pretty good idea of which one they are working on. If not, please reach out. (They are also in order from easiest to hardest, so another way to figure out where to start is just have them start reading and stop when they are having to sound out each sound or it isn't smooth). These lists are ordered by level. You can play bingo with them or you can time yourself reading them to see if you can get the fastest time. You can also use the word lists to make flash cards or other games. Other game ideas include High Frequency Word Fishing (write the words on cards and then "fish" with tweezers and write down the words you get to practice spelling) or Pop (write the words on cards and then add in a few words that say POP!. Keep the cards you can read but if you get a POP! you have to put all of your cards back).
Be careful as you print these because each one includes 30 different bingo boards (I usually only use the first few because each has all of the same words, just in different orders). |
